Farewell to a legend!

MyCars-70SuperCarClinicDennisWarner1I would like to say that being part of Dennis’s life during the early years of drag racing in Canada was an honour and a privilege to be associated with such a great innovator of engine technology. MyCars-70SuperCarClinicDennisWarnerThat was truly a part of my past I will always remember. Dennis and John Osbourne worked with me a lot in the early years offering their ideas and machining skills by helping me build performance racing engines that made all the difference when competing. Dennis’s dedication to Canada’s Drag Racing programs will always be remembered by his friends and colleagues.

To Ryan, Heather, Janice and Jennifer. I would like to relay my deepest condolences for your loss of a kind and gentle man I remembered, and his kindness to all racers in the drag racing world. A true fan of your father.

                                                                                                             John Petrie

And from my friends and colleagues, Danny McLennan, Gary McLennan, Paul Eyman, Steve Pinn, Pat Browne and Grace, we hope the memories of your father will live on as he was a great Canadian ambassador for all things good in racing.

I knew Dennis when he built and ran the “Bullet” C/A Dodge. I recall some racers at the time would joke and tease him about his “theories”, however I also noticed many of the sought his advice and even asked for his help with their cars. He encouraged me to stop spectating and compete which I finally did. He was truly one of my heroes…I bet he and John Osborne are scheming something now. RIP Dennis.
